These five agents all work like texting a person. You send a message, they do the work. Different products, different signup paths, different tradeoffs.
This is the short setup path I send people after the carousel: get in, connect one low-stakes app, run one real task, then decide if it earns a daily slot.
⏱️
Setup time: Muse / Instinct / Poke are usually under 5 minutes each. Grok Bot is also~5 if you already pay for Cursor or SuperGrok. OpenClaw will take a couple hours.
Paste these when the product asks. Codes can expire or run out of seats. If one fails, reply here and I’ll swap it.
✨ What this is
A texting agent is an AI that lives in Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, or a chat app and actually finishes tasks (book, draft, research, follow up), not just chat.
The five in the carousel:
Muse — Meta’s personal agent (app + muse.ai + WhatsApp)
Instinct — invite-only life admin over text / call (no app)
Grok Bot — a team of named bots that keep working with your laptop shut
Poke — agent inside Apple Messages / Telegram / WhatsApp
OpenClaw — open-source, self-hosted gateway you wire to your own chat apps
Start with one. Connecting every inbox on day one is how people get burned.
🟣 Muse (Meta)
Best for: everyday tasks inside the Meta world + a browser agent that can fill forms and call businesses.
Cost: free for most use. Power ~$20/mo, Maximum ~$100/mo if you burn the free token pool.

Windows (PowerShell): iwr -useb https://openclaw.ai/install.ps1 | iex
Prefer a desktop app? Use the macOS / Windows companion from the install docs.
Finish onboarding (Quick start or Custom). Pick your model provider and paste the API key. Config lands in ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json.
Keep the Gateway running in the background: openclaw gateway install (or openclaw onboard --install-daemon if you skipped that). Check it with openclaw gateway status (default port 18789).
Chat in the browser first: openclaw dashboard → local Control UI at http://127.0.0.1:18789/.
For phone texting, fastest channel is Telegram: create a bot with @BotFather, paste the token into OpenClaw, confirm the gateway is up.
DM the bot. Approve the pairing code it returns (openclaw pairing approve telegram <CODE>).
Smoke test from your phone: one short task that needs a tool (web search, file read).
Watch for: Bun has issues with WhatsApp / Telegram. Prefer Node for those channels. First-time setup can take an afternoon. That’s normal. Lock who can DM you before you open it up.
